Personal Prayer

The first time God is called “Shepherd” is in Genesis. Jacob referred to God as ‘my shepherd.’

He blessed Joseph, and said, “The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day, 16 The angel who has redeemed me from all evil, Bless the lads… (Genesis 48:15)

Jacob proclaimed that the result of God’s shepherding activity in his life was experiencing His oversight, redemption from evil, blessing, divine destiny, and multiplication in the midst of a hostile world.

My Shepherd” … this is Psalm 23 language, isn’t it?  It’s amazing how individualized the Shepherd’s attention is. Notice how the individual celebrates the Shepherd’s care.  Please review these verses:

1. The LORD is my shepherd I shall not want

2. He makes me lie down

He leads me

3. He restores my soul

He guides me

4. Though I walk in deep darkness

I fear no evil

You are with me

Your rod and staff comfort me

5. You prepare a table for me

In the presence of my enemies

My cup overflows

6. Goodness and mercy shall follow me

I shall dwell in His house

What a psalm.  What a Shepherd! What individual care. What an expression of personal confidence.  This psalm is indicative of what a personal relationship with Jesus is about.  The Lord’s determination to be each one’s shepherd has profound implications for the way we live and see life. Each of us has the opportunity to cultivate this relationship and point God’s sheep to Him.

Since God is this wonderful shepherd, we can bring our concerns to Him in prayer.

We know that God longs to be gracious to you. He cares about you in ways that would surprise and overwhelm you.

When this Shepherd revealed Himself to Moses, He described Himself as “Gracious, Compassionate, abounding in Lovingkindness and Mercy!”

Let’s agree together to see His love and power invade your life. He has provided Jesus, His very heart, to fully pay for all of your sins. How would He not want to help you in every other way as well.

Let us know your prayer needs, we would be honored to believe Him with you and rejoice with you to see His Glorious Answers. Weekly prayer meetings and times take place on a regular basis. Please check our calendar of events for the times and locations to join.
